Valcourt, Québec, January 11, 2013 – For the 2013 ATV and side-by-side racing season, BRP has added the all-new 2013 Can-Am® Maverick™ 1000R to its line of side-by-side vehicles and ATVs eligible for the Can-Am Amateur Racer Support program. The 101-hp, pure-sport Maverick 1000R side-by-side vehicle joins the Can-Am Commander™, the DS 450™ ATV and certain Outlander™ and Renegade™4x4 models for the coming racing season. In addition to the racer support program eligibility, BRP will also expand its Can-Am X-Team ATV and Side-By-Side Racing contingency to include eligible Can-Am Maverick 1000R owners, increasing its industry-leading program to more than US $2 million for 2013.
“BRP continues to raise the bar in terms of its product offerings, rider support efforts and Can-Am X-Team Racing Contingency program,” said Jimmie O’Dell, Race Manager, Can-Am. “Including a dynamic vehicle like the Maverick 1000R to the lineup of eligible Can-Am vehicles and further expanding BRP’s industry-leading support for was a necessity. We understand Can-Am owners have a desire to compete with their vehicle, so expanding rider support and Can-Am contingency is our way of helping them pursue their passion and rewarding them for it on both a local or national level.”
Amateur racers will need to first purchase a qualifying ATV or side-by-side vehicle and register with an authorized Can-Am dealer. The list includes the all-new 2013 Can-Am Maverick 1000R and 2011, 2012 and 2013 Can-Am Commander in the side-by-side vehicle segment. For Can-Am ATVs, any new or unused 2011, 2012 and 2013 DS 450, Renegade and certain Outlander (see rules) ATVs are eligible. Once signed up, racers who compete in their local race circuit or a nationally recognized racing series can qualify for the model rebate. Those racers who meet eligibility requirements can benefit by receiving up to a $1,000 factory discount on all eligible ATV models and a $1,500 factory discount on all eligible side-by-sides. However, the number of vehicles eligible for the program is limited and once BRP reaches that number, the program will end.
Racers, who meet the DS 450, 4x4 or side-by-side contingency program qualifications can also receive cash payouts in the amount earned based on their finishing position at an event. Payments are mailed directly to the participant or legal guardian. BRP will also continue to award contingency pavouts for overall championship at the conclusion of the 2013 racing season.
Contingency cash is paid out in all major U.S. national racing series, including the Grand National Cross Country (GNCC) series, World Off-Road Championship Series (WORCS), High Lifter Mud Nationals as well as numerous local off-road racing series. For 2013, the number of qualified racing series has expanded to include even more racing circuits, from desert series to hare scrambles to endurance events in the U.S. and Canada. The 2013 Can-Am X-Team Racing Contingency Program will be announced in a separate release.
