Derrick Bonds Benefit Ride at Burning Rock

logo.2013.burning-rock_1.JPG(TAMS) Tuesday, Dec. 17 – Burning Rock Outdoor Adventure Park will host a New Year’s Day benefit ride for Derrick Bonds, a local racer paralyzed in a motocross accident. The January 1, 2014 ride will feature raffles and prizes, sponsored by Bryan Buckhannon, GNCC racer and proprietor of ATV Parts Plus in Beckley, WV.

Derrick has been accepted to the Project Walk Spinal Cord Injury Recovery Facility based in California but needs help paying for the rehabilitation costs. According to Derrick, the money raised will go to airfare, lodging, meals, and the cost of the program. He is hoping to be able to enroll in the program by February.

“What better way to start off the New Year than to ride, have a chance at winning some prizes and help a local kid to walk again,” said Katie Sweeney of Burning Rock. “It’s a winwin: ride some great trails and make a difference.”
