Changing the tires on your ATV or Side x Side is a great opportunity to upgrade with a tire that better fits your needs. We use our Polaris RZR 900 for trails that range from loose sand, to rocky, former railroad grades, and for prowling around the woods.
The Polaris ACE marked a different direction in the development of Side x Sides. The ACE wasn’t exactly an ATV, although it did appear to be the offspring of a mating between the RZR 570 and a Sportsman ATV. It wasn’t exactly a Side x Side either; even though it has a steering wheel, roll cage, and a bucket seat. One thing we knew for sure is that we needed to spend more time on, or maybe we should say “in” it.
Testing the QUADBOSS Beauty and the Beast Tire and Wheel Combo
There’s no way around it. You are going to replace your stock tires someday, but don’t wait until they are completely worn down to the carcass. Changing to a tire that fits your riding style and the terrain where you normally ride is one of the best ways to improve your machine. Recently we changed out the tires on our trusty RZR we use for the trails, and our do-it-all, hard working Ranger. Why hadn’t we done this earlier?
If there is one product that can make any Side x Side more functional, it is a quality mirror kit. Whether you drive a sporty, desert taming model, or a hard working machine on the job site or farm, it’s much more difficult to see behind you when strapped into the seat of a Side x Side than it is in your truck. This is especially true if you wear a helmet like we always do. There are plenty of mirror kits on the market, but the hands down best kit we’ve found is the PURSUIT mirror by Seizmik. We’ve tried other mirror kits, but none are nearly as nice as this.
Don’t you just love getting a new set of tires? There’s just something about having a brand new set of treads whether they’re for your car, truck, ATV, or SxS. It just makes you feel good inside. From that nice, clean, sharp edge on the lugs to that awesome new tire smell, it’s always a good day when you get a new set of rubber.
Lifted vehicles always get people’s attention and they’re common in the off-road world. Jeeps are lifted, trucks are lifted and so are ATVs & Side x Sides. There are two big reasons for lifting your ride; a macho, ready for anything style, and trail function. Lifting a vehicle gets about as much attention as anything else you can do, and huge tires, bead lock wheels, and a custom paint job always draws a crowd, especially when combined with a throaty sounding exhaust. It’s performance that counts most though.
Regardless of how much dust is on your dash, how many tools are rattling away in the door pockets, or important papers sprouting from the center console of your truck, when riding in nasty weather, it doesn’t take long to appreciate the comfort of a windshield and roof. Side x Sides can be down-right miserable in cold or wet weather. Unlike an ATV where body movement helps to keep you warm, with a Side x Side, you simply sit there and suffer through the misery as best you can.
This is a really great accessory! We were excited about installing Seizmik’s light bar on our Polaris RZR 570, but when the kit arrived and we could see the quality of components and the thought that went into this kit, we couldn’t wait to get it installed and try it later that night. It only got better!
We Test a Dalton Clutch Kit on the Polaris RZR 570
With all the high horsepower machines in the garage, you would think our diminutive Polaris RZR 570 would be feeling a little ignored and lonely, hardly ever getting out to the trail. Almost the complete opposite is true. On nearly every ride and adventure, regardless of how long or short the trip, the RZR 570 is at the top of our list and we sometimes force ourselves to leave it in the garage and take another machine instead. The RZR 570 is that much fun.
Yamaha was onto something when they introduced electronic power steering with their 2007 Grizzly ATV. Since then more and more models either come equipped with EPS, or it’s at least an option right from the factory. The advantages of power steering – less steering effort, reduced kickback, less arm fatigue – are hard to ignore, but not every machine has it. Wicked Bilt can cure that!
