Yamaha Sweepstakes Supports Outdoor Sports and Conservation

CYPRESS, Calif. – January 7, 2015 – Yamaha Outdoors has been a longtime partner and supporter of National Hunting and Fishing Day (NHF Day), an annual celebration of outdoorsmen and women and the important contributions they make to the environment and economy.  To help raise awareness and excitement for NHF Day in 2014, Yamaha donated a Viking Side-by-Side (SxS) vehicle – a new high in the level of support for the day’s events and participants. Dorothy Jones of Blanks, La., was randomly selected as the winner. An avid hunter, Jones will soon be enjoying the class-leading comfort and superior off-road capability offered by her new 2014 Viking. And she can take pride in knowing that every Viking is assembled in the U.S.A. at Yamaha’s factory in Newnan, Georgia.

CYPRESS, Calif. – December 16, 2014 – Yamaha Motor Corp., U.S.A., today announced it has contributed more than $40,000 in critical cash and equipment to five local riding groups to support OHV access in their respective areas.The awards – part of Yamaha’s Outdoor Access Initiative third quarter funding cycle of GRANTs (Guaranteeing Responsible Access to our Nation’s Trails) – coincided with the company’s participation at the 87thNational Future Farmers of America (NFFA) Convention and Expo in October, where Yamaha went to great lengths to promote safe, responsible ATV and Side-by-Side vehicle use to future farmers. “The National FFA convention is a terrific opportunity to discuss the importance of safe and responsible riding habits for all uses of off-highway vehicles, whether recreational or as farming equipment,” said Steve Nessl, Yamaha ATV and SxS group marketing manager. “The expanded platform of the Yamaha Outdoor Access Initiative has increased its importance as a vehicle for reaching out to OHV users within the greater outdoor recreation community.”

She was awarded a complete racing package from Yamaha and GNCC during the banquet and will represent Yamaha in the 2015 GNCC season.

Among the year’s highlights for team blue, Yamaha’s Dustin Nelson celebrated a record sixth QuadX Series championship, Chad Wienen took his third straight AMA Racing title, and Yamaha received the AMA Pro ATV Manufacturer’s title for the third year in a row. “I’m proud to cap off this racing season with my sixth QuadX championship,” Nelson said. “The 2014 YFZ450R ran flawlessly at every event carrying me all the way to the #1 plate!”

Yamaha made it very clear last year that the Viking would be the first of many models designed to carry them back into the Side x Side market. The new, six seat Viking VI is the second installment on that promise and it builds on the hard-working features of the original Viking, but with upgrades and features to make it even more capable for the entire work crew. Since Texas accounts for a large percentage of Side x Side sales, many of which are the multi-passenger “crew” type vehicles, Yamaha thought it would be fitting to preview their big Viking VI where it would be right at home.

Seventh-Annual Yamaha Employee Volunteer Event Improves OHV Areas and Access

CYPRESS, Calif. – September 24, 2014 – Yamaha Motor Corp., U.S.A., employees and volunteers returned to the San Bernardino National Forest in advance of National Hunting and Fishing Day and National Public Lands Day planting shrubs and cleaning up OHV areas for the seventh straight year alongside members of the U.S. Forest Service (USFS) and Southern California Mountains Foundation (SCMF). More than 40 volunteers including Yamaha employees, their friends and family members contributed more than 200 hours over a recent weekend. Their mission: Help restore and rehabilitate misused and neglected areas of Coxey Meadow, a busy family recreation area enjoyed by thousands of outdoor enthusiasts each year. Their work resulted in the planting and watering of more than 450 native shrubs including sagebrush, rabbit brush and buckwheat, and slashing activities within the 60-acre area.
