Ride Area Review - Kentucky Home

Best of the Best – Harlan County, Kentucky

We first noticed the signs welcoming visitors as we drove into Harlan County, Kentucky.  In between the natural beauty of the towering, yet sleepy mountains and green valleys, other signs began to appear welcoming adventure lovers and even off-road riders.  We should have expected that from a group of residents that have long shared so much with so many.  Their struggles and victories have been the nation’s as well.  Coal has been the county’s driving economic force for decades, but there is also history here.

Think your truck is tough?  ATVs and Side x Sides are designed to perform in terrain and conditions that would make your truck whimper like a scared puppy, and they can do it year after year with the proper maintenance.  The most critical part of that maintenance is regular air filter cleanings and oil changes.  Neither is particularly difficult, time consuming, or tedious, but both are almost universally despised, especially cleaning a sticky, dust caked air filter.

Product Review - Big Boy II Ramps

Discount Ramps Tool For Loading Safety

Whether you ride an ATV, a sporty Side x Side, or a hard working UTV, if you’re going to haul it, you’re also going to need ramps.  Most ATV ramps easily handle the weight of the ATV and rider, but are dangerously overloaded with a Side x Side that is often more than double the quad’s weight.  Crashing to the ground as an undersized ramp collapses, and in the process screwing up your machine, your truck, and possibly you, is not the way to start a great weekend of riding.

Your front and rear drive shafts are some of the most vital and most vulnerable parts on your machine.  Whether you drive a Can-Am, Arctic Cat, Yamaha, or any brand though, once you tear the boot covering the articulating CV joint and a little water or grit enters the joint, it’s sayonara for the joint; it’s truly amazing how fast it happens.

Every bad boy has a little bit of off-road blood flowing through their veins.  After all, who doesn’t like to sling a little dirt now and then?  Even young Anakin Skywalker was an off-road racer long before he became the galaxy roving menace known as Darth Vader.  If Lord Vader had stuck to his terrestrial roots though, we imagine his machine would look something like the awesome Commander owned by Lance Guidry.

Cub Cadet is a company that was formed over five decades ago to serve the American dream.  The rapidly swelling ranks of post war baby boomers were moving to the suburbs and country by the millions and buying homes with plenty of grass for kids, dogs, or playing catch.  Between the picket fences and the front porch though, there was a lot of grass to cut and snow to push, and nothing could be more rural than a small tractor in their small field to get the job done.

The Polaris Sportsman is quite possibly the most popular ATV line ever built.  Since its inception in 1993, Polaris has manufactured well over one MILLION units, making it the best-selling utility ATV platform in the industry.  But as with anything mechanical, there have been some issues that have come to the surface, and there was a run of Sportsman 600’s and 700’s from 2002 to mid-2004 that were plagued with electrical problems and failure of the ignition system was a matter of when, not if.
