But when the necessity for carrying cargo shifts to ferrying people, the rugged MULE 4010 Trans4x4® can quickly transform into a versatile four-seater, thanks to its Trans Cab design.
The ability to change configuration, from one-row of seating to two rows without using additional tools or removing parts, is what makes the Trans4x4 one of the most versatile vehicles in its class. Yet the rugged MULE 4010 4x4 and the MULE 4000 RWD will still prove invaluable on the worksite, farm or fishing expedition.
MULE™ 4010 TRANS4X4®
The 2016 Kawasaki MULE 4010 Trans4x4 side x side was born with an unstoppable work ethic, an industrial design and an ability to have fun. It is driven by a powerful 617cc V-twin engine that is liquid-cooled and metered by a Digital Fuel Injection (DFI®) system that ensures the correct amount of fuel is always available to meet the driver’s demands.
Its versatile Trans Cab™ system means it can carry two people and have a large loading area in the cargo bed, capable of carrying up to 800 lb. Yet when the job demands more people, the Trans Cab can be transformed quickly into the four-passenger mode, gaining an e bench seat behind the driver and shortening the rugged steel cargo bed, which can still carry up to 400 lb.
The Trans Cab system requires no tools, and no parts are removed. The operation simply requires latches to be released on the rear divider panel, which is then secured in the rear mounting position. The left and right bed extensions are then folded to the rear of the bed before the seat is raised and latched into place. It’s a simple operation that can be quickly executed by one or two people. It means the MULE 4010 Trans4x4 side x side can go from work to play or transporter to hauler in no time, and still retain its 1,200 lb towing capacity at all times.
Additional features include a ROPS (Roll Over Protection System) structure, independent front suspension and a durable De Dion rear suspension system to ensure greater comfort and superior traction, as well as Electric Power Steering (EPS) to reduce effort at low speeds as well as reduce fatigue by damping any steering kickback on uneven surfaces. All MULE 4000 series models are fitted with sealed drum brakes at each corner to provide ample braking power and to prevent dirt getting into the system.
The MULE 4010 Trans4x4 side x side is available in a number of colors, including Timberline Green and Dark Royal Red. A popular option among owners who also use their MULE for hunting or fishing is the Realtree Xtra Green Camo finish, which allows the vehicle to blend into its surroundings.
Additionally, there is a 2016 Kawasaki MULE 4010 Trans4x4 SE model. This “Special Edition” is available in Super Black and is equipped with LED headlights plus a composite sun top.

MULE™ 4010 4x4 & MULE™ 4010 4x4 SE
Closely related to the MULE 4010 Trans4x4 model, the 2016 Kawasaki MULE 4010 4x4 side x side shares the same attributes, with the exception of the Trans Cab seating features. This allows the vehicle to be shorter, while offering slightly more steel cargo bed volume that the Trans4x4 when it’s in the two-passenger configuration. They also share the same 800 lb cargo bed capacity and 1,200 lb tow capacity, to make them valued assets on the work site.
Thanks to Kawasaki’s experience at building heavy machinery, ships and aircraft, all MULE products are built with the same ethos for toughness, durability and endurance. The MULE 4010 4x4 side x side will be with you at the start of the work day, and will remain by your side as you wind down the day by the lake to enjoy some fishing.
It’s powered by an efficient fuel-injected 617cc four-stroke, liquid-cooled V-twin engine that is coupled to a Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT) to help ensure the driver is able to feed in the power as precisely as needed.
The 4x4 system is selectable, so it can be run in rear-wheel drive when the going is easy, switching to four-wheel drive as required. The transmission also has high and low ratios to provide extra traction when necessary, plus a locking rear differential for when the conditions get really tough.
Since a side x side should be both reliable and convenient to use, all the 4000 series have the oil dipstick and filler under the seat, and the cyclone-type air cleaner has a meter to indicate when it needs to be replaced.
The MULE 4010 4x4 side x side comes with a steel brush guard to help protect the front-end in rough conditions, and an optional winch can be easily mounted to the sturdy chassis if needed, among the large number of Genuine Kawasaki Accessories available to extend the capabilities of the MULE.
The 2016 Kawasaki MULE 4010 4x4 SE is available in a new Super Black finish and with distinctive Special Edition graphics. It is also equipped with a hard sun top, powerful LED headlights and automotive-style retractable seatbelts for both front occupants.

MULE™ 4000
The 2016 Kawasaki MULE 4000 side x side is a simplified version of the 4010 models. It boasts all the great features of its bigger siblings but does without 4WD, finding excellent traction from its combination of a dual-mode locking rear differential, CVT to apply precise amounts of power to the ground, large off-road tires and independent front suspension.
This RWD model also utilizes the same large steel cargo bed as the 4010 models, the same 617cc V-twin motor with Digital Fuel Injection (DFI®), the same carrying and towing capacity, and all at a lower price for Kawasaki’s legendary reliability and long term durability. It also maintains the remarkable Kawasaki STRONG 3-year limited factory warranty, proving we believe in the products we build.
