It wasn’t supposed to be a trek through the snow. When Kawasaki called asking if we would like to try the 2016 Teryx Side x Side on the trails of HatField-McCoy, we were quick to grab our helmet and gear with thoughts of the West Virginia Mountains in mind. It’s always great to get a chance to ride the Hatfield McCoy Trails, but I was a little worried when we started seeing the news about Winter Storm Jonas.

We Know Why You Ride

FOOTHILL RANCH, Calif. (July, 15 2016) – In 1977, uttering the terms “internet,” “big data” and “social media” in a business meeting would probably earn you plenty of blank stares. That’s because print media and television were the undisputed kings of reaching customers. Harnessing these powerful communications tools, Kawasaki had already launched two advertising campaigns, “Come out ahead on a Kawasaki” in 1972 and “Let the good times roll.®” in 1973. Now it was time for the next step. In order to reach the most avid enthusiasts, advertising agency J. Walter Thompson created the “We know why you ride” campaign for 1977.

Your business is growing, but your land isn’t a multi-acre farm—not yet. You need a vehicle that’s going to grow with your needs. A vehicle that will be there when you need it the most, whether it’s your first Mule™ side x side or a part of a fleet. It’s designed to go almost anywhere with its compact size, but pull well above its weight. The S stands for small; the X stands for strong, introducing the Small but Strong MULE SX.Unlike other models, the MULE SX side x side is designed for modesty. Built for those who need a hard working, go-anywhere machine, but without the size, speed and expense of its bigger MULE™ PRO series. Maybe your farm or business requires more, needing multiple Mules for your fleet, the MULE SX is also a great affordable option and easier to transport when you have multiple units to carry between job sites.

Power from the engine is passed through a precisely tuned Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT) with an electrically selectable 2WD/4WD system and dual-mode locking rear differential, giving the driver control in any condition. Kawasaki may not have the largest lineup of ATVs and Side x Sides but without fail, the models they do offer all carry three important traits. Across the board the Kawasaki ATVs and Side x Sides are rugged, reliable, and extremely versatile. They’re ready for work or play, and they’ll never let you down.

Coming to America

Surprisingly, the birthplace of Kawasaki Motors Corp., U.S.A. was not the Golden State but old-town Chicago.

Kawasaki is a company on the move. They’re constantly tweaking their ATV and Side x Side lineups to make every model better, and since the overall number of Kawasaki models is a little smaller than some competitors, they can really hone the fine details that can make or break a design. For 2016 the majority of their effort was focused on a model released only a little over a year ago.
